About Me
I come from a family of six children where the two youngest, my sister and I, were born at home. My dad and I joke that it was my own birth at home ( I was born in caul!) that sparked my interest and love for pregnancy and childbirth! I grew up hearing about the difference between my mothers' hospital births, and then finally her peaceful home births, which thankfully taught me from a very young age that birth did not have to be a dreaded, traumatic experience no matter where or how you decided to give birth.
My interest in Doula work began while I was pursuing a Biology degree at Belmont Abbey College in Charlotte, NC. After volunteering at Mira Via, a home for pregnant college students on my college campus, my desire to help young women navigate a healthy and joyful pregnancy began to grow. This desire only increased once I myself experienced how stressful and overwhelming it can be to be a young women receiving medical care alone in a hospital setting.
I then began my Birth Doula training and have been loving every moment of caring for and supporting women and families throughout their entire pregnancy. I feel especially drawn to supporting women who have experienced a traumatic birth or suffered from a miscarriage, and hope to bring them some comfort and confidence in any future pregnancy and birth.
While I primarily serve families planning home births, I will occasionally accept birth center and hospital clients. I support physiological, mother-led birth wherever it takes place, and I believe every family deserves compassionate, evidence based support that honors their preferences and values. Whether at home, in a birth center or in a hospital, my goal remains the same: to help you feel informed, supported and achieve the birth God desires for you and your growing family.
